Our 24th season! Our 50th show!

Welcome to Independent Musical Productions, Inc.

IMP has been bringing quality theatre to the North Alabama area for nearly 25 years. As we enter our 24th season, we invite you to join us as an audience member, a backstage volunteer, or a performer on stage. IMP is Huntsvile's place for high-quality performing arts. IMP puts world-class work on stage, but we're so much more than that: We share a partnership with the Performing Arts Magnet Program at Lee High School. We have an educational outreach program with the New Hope, Alabama school system in partnership with The Care Center. We offer workshops during the season, as well as a summer musical theatre workshop for young people. We support local charitable non-profit groups. We're a community of artists, administrators, educators, and business and civic leaders devoted to theatre, arts, and arts education. We've won awards for our work and our advocacy.

We look forward to seeing YOU ... at auditions, in the workshop, in the costume shop, in our educational programs, or sitting in the audience.

At the dawn of a new century, everything is changing ... and anything is possible. Set in the volatile melting pot of turn-of-the-century New York, Ragtime weaves together three distinctly American tales — that of a stifled upper-class wife, a determined Jewish immigrant, and a daring young Harlem musician — united by their courage, compassion, and belief in the promise of the future. Their compelling stories are set to a glorious, Tony Award-winning score with a book based on the classic E. L. Doctorow novel.
